Unsupported Products

First, any item, service or industry must comply with NSC. There is no point in having a national standards code if it way voluntarily. Products imported do not have to comply with NSC, however – they will not receive the NSC seal of approval, and a number of industries will not acquire such products. This will include education, government, and government owned businesses. For example, the iPhone will not qualify since they do not have micro-SD card expansion. They can be imported from another country (such as China) and sold in stores, but they will not get the approval seal, be available for restricted industries mentioned, nor will they be sold in Ka-Tel stores since Ka-Tel being a government owned business are not allowed to buy iPhones. However, a person can buy an iPhone and activate it with Ka-Tel. If Apple was to make a Kaldan version of their phones with micro-SD card support, then they will likely be approved.

However, KCI is a business in the nation of Kaldus. While they won’t likely be government owned, they still must comply with NSC regulations for all of their products, and not just phones. They are allowed to export their products to other countries, but even those products must support NSC regulations even if the imported country does not require such standards. KCI will not be able to make 2 versions of their devices, and that will likely mess up efficiency, especially for a smaller company like KCI.
